Allowing BUILTIN\Administrators to access network share
Good morning everyone, Recently I began testing a software package that is to scan each of our clients for sensitive information, generate a log file, and then store that log file onto a network shared drive. Unfortunately, the program only allows the scan to be done by the logged on user (who generally does not have access to the local where we would like the log files to be saved) or the built-in administrator account. Is it possible to allow the built-in administrator access to a network location? Or do you have a better idea that we could try out? Thanks! Brian

Do you mean that you want to let a domain admin use a share? If yes then make sure that the file server is member of your domain and then grant him the NTFS and Share permissions you want. Hi, I would agree with Mr X that you may modify the NTFS and Share permissions to let built-in administrators to access the sharing folder. For the detailed information, please refer to the following Microsoft KB article: How To Share Files and Folders over a Network for Workgroups in Windows Server 2003 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/323420 Regards,Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Sorry for the very delayed response. I've had a laundry list of other things to worry about recently. To clarify: I am using the program Identity Finder (http://www.identityfinder.com/) and there are two options for which user executes the actual scan; the local logged in user or the built in administrator account. We want the files to be saved on a folder on our file server, but the only users with access to this share is the IT staff. Of course we do not want the local users to have access to the share. Additionally, when the built in administrator account tries to save the log files to the shared folder, it spits out an access denied folder. So I guess I am wondering if there's a way to allow that local administrator to access that shared folder. Thanks!
